With our lush valleys, stretching palm trees and uninterrupted ocean views, Taitung is well-known throughout Taiwan for its natural beauty. But did you know it is also one of the best places to experience a wide range of water sports?
Whether you're into surfing along the coastline, river tracing in the mountains, snorkeling in clear waters, or stand-up paddleboarding on calm lakes, there is no shortage of outdoor activities to explore. Best of all (from our humble perspective), we even have a growing sailing community here in Taitung!
What Makes Sailing Different?
Unlike many other water sports in Taitung, sailing requires a deep understanding of the environment, with students getting the chance to read the wind and weather, understand sailing theory and strategy, tie knots and rig a boat, and learn to control direction and speed using sails.
Through our structured sailing lessons and short sailing courses, students develop both technical skills and decision-making abilities, making sailing one of the most challenging, but rewarding, outdoor activities on offer.
Where Can You Learn Sailing?
If you live in Taitung, there are several ways to learn sailing: we offer school programs via local educational institutions such as Taitung Senior Girls High School, Changbin Junior High School, and National Taitung University. We also provide Sunday sailing classes at our training base on Flowing Lake.
If you are visiting from outside Taitung, we offer a variety of options. You're welcome to join us on long weekend intensive sailing courses, seasonal kids camps and winter camps, and summer programs as part of our popular Taitung camps.
Who Can Learn Sailing?
Sailing is a sport for all ages. Children can start learning from around 8 years old, when their coordination and ability to process complex information begin to develop. At the same time, there is no upper age limit. Many adults discover sailing later in life as part of family activities or personal challenges. The most important factor is being willing to take on a new challenge!
