Taitung Sailing Winter Camps: Keep the Adventure Going After Summer
Summer may be over, but in Taitung, the sailing season doesn't have to end.
After an incredible summer filled with sailing, outdoor adventures, new friendships and plenty of time on the water, we are already looking forward to the next season. Our Taitung Sailing Winter Camps are back for the 2026–2027 winter holidays, giving children and teenagers the opportunity to spend their school break outdoors, learn new skills and have fun in one of Taiwan's most beautiful coastal environments.
While many parts of Taiwan start reaching for their jackets in winter, Taitung enjoys a much milder climate. That means we can still get out on the water, sail at Flowing Lake and make the most of the outdoors.
After such a successful summer camp season, we can't wait to do it all again.
Looking Back at an Amazing Summer
Our 2026 summer camps were filled with the things we love most about outdoor education: sailing, adventure, independence, teamwork and plenty of laughter.
Every morning began on the water at Flowing Lake, where campers developed their sailing skills with our instructors. Younger students sailed Optimist dinghies, while older students trained in RS Zest boats. Students were divided into groups according to their age and experience.
For some campers, this was their first experience sailing. For others, it was an opportunity to build on the skills they had developed during previous camps and become more confident sailors.
Afternoons brought a completely different kind of adventure, with activities including SUP, river tracing, cultural experiences and other outdoor challenges. Students had opportunities to try things they might never encounter during a normal school week and discover that they were capable of much more than they expected.
Life Off the Screen
For many children, one of the best parts of camp is simply having a few days where life revolves around real-world experiences rather than phones and screens.
Instead of spending the afternoon scrolling on a phone, campers are outside. Instead of communicating through a screen, they are working together in a boat, helping each other during activities or sitting around the dinner table together.
These everyday experiences create an environment where children can make genuine connections and develop confidence in a natural and relaxed way.
Our camps also bring together children from Taiwan and different parts of the world. This creates an international environment where students can naturally hear and use different languages, meet people from different backgrounds and learn about other cultures.
Winter Is Coming and We're Going Sailing
So what's next?
Winter Sailing Camps 2026–2027 are now open for registration.
Taitung's mild winter weather makes it a great place to spend time outdoors during the winter. Our winter camps combine morning sailing at Flowing Lake with afternoons of outdoor adventures, creative activities and evening games.
Winter Sailing Camp Dates
We have four winter camp sessions available:
Winter 1: December 19–23
Winter 2: January 4–8
Winter 3: January 18–22
Winter 4: January 25–29
Students joining the full-week program arrive on Sunday afternoon and return home on Friday.
Group bookings are also welcome. Please contact us directly to discuss arrangements.
What Does a Winter Camp Day Look Like
A typical winter camp day combines time on the water with a variety of activities throughout the day.
Morning: Sailing at Flowing Lake
Afternoon: Outdoor activities such as wild hot springs, tree climbing and outdoor games
Late afternoon: Quiet activities and hands-on crafts
Evening: Games, with a campfire celebration on the final night
The exact activities and schedule may change depending on the weather and outdoor conditions. That's part of the adventure.
For students joining the full-day program, the experience includes the morning sailing course, afternoon and evening activities, meals, accommodation and transportation.
Students who prefer a shorter experience can also join the morning sailing program, which includes sailing and lunch.
It's a busy day, but that's exactly what makes camp so much fun. After five days of trying new things, making friends and developing new skills, students return home with experiences that go far beyond the classroom.
Who Can Join
Our small-boat winter camps are suitable for children and teenagers aged 8–18.
Ages 8–12: Optimist sailing classes, with a maximum of 15 students
Ages 13–18: RS Zest sailing classes, with a maximum of 12 students
Morning sailing groups are taught at the same time at Flowing Lake, with students working with different coaches according to their age and sailing ability.
No previous sailing experience is required for the small-boat courses. Children do not need to know how to sail before joining us, and they do not need extensive experience on the water.
A Winter Holiday They Won't Forget
School holidays don't have to mean staying indoors.
They can mean waking up in Taitung, having breakfast with new friends, heading to the lake to sail, exploring the outdoors in the afternoon, learning something new in the evening and falling asleep tired after a full day outside.
That's what we love about camp.
The goal isn't simply to teach children how to sail. It's to give them a week where they can try new things, explore, challenge themselves, make friends and have fun.
After such a memorable summer, we're excited to welcome a new group of campers for the winter season.
